  4. Driving retention- Sportsbooks use social media to boost customer engagement and retention. Platforms like Twitter enable books to build brand identity through real-time interaction with bettors.

Appropriately weighting it in oddsmaking models allows sportsbooks to hone their edges. As algorithms improve, expect sportsbooks to extract even greater utility from social engagement signals.

The influence of social media on betting markets is perhaps best illustrated through case studies. The interplay between NBA betting and Twitter provides one insightful example.
