Freshly squeezed lemon juice and ground turmeric join forces for a bright and fresh Lemon Turmeric Grilled Salmon recipe that is AIP, Paleo and Whole-30 friendly. After 30 minutes of marinating time, this grilled salmon is ready in under 10 minutes. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner.
I am absolutely loving my grill this summer, as you may have noticed from all the AIP grilling recipes popping up lately on the blog. The grill I have heats up super quickly, so it’s perfect for quick weeknight meals in 10-15 minutes or less! And there’s really nothing better than the taste of freshly grilled meat, seafood or vegetables, am I right?
Today’s recipe is this 10-Minute Lemon Turmeric Grilled Salmon. Whip up a quick marinade (seriously, it comes together in two minutes or less), marinate the salmon for 30-60 minutes, fire up the grill and get dinner on the table STAT!
How to make Lemon Turmeric Grilled Salmon
Supplies
First, gather your ingredients and supplies. You’ll need a grill, some measuring spoons and a pint size mason jar or dressing bottle to make the marinade. Then you’ll need four salmon fillets (about 3-4 oz each), plus the ingredients for the marinade:
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Tbsp fresh-squeezed lemon juice (from about 1/2 small lemon)
- 1/8 tsp sea salt
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
Instructions
Add the olive oil, lemon juice, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder and ground turmeric to a pint size mason jar or dressing bottle and shake vigorously until well combined.
Then add the salmon fillets to a glass dish or gallon size plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the salmon and marinate in the fridge for 30-60 minutes. Remove from the fridge and bring to room temperature about 10 minutes before grilling.
Preheat your grill to medium (about 350ºF). Once heated, add the marinated salmon fillets to the grill and close the lid. Discard any leftover marinade.
Grill the salmon, with the lid closed, for 3-4 minutes, or until it begins to lighten in color and is firm to the touch. Flip and grill another 2-4 minutes, or until salmon reaches 130ºF and flakes easily with a fork. Thicker fillets may require longer cooking times. Remove and rest for 1-2 minutes before serving.
Storing
This Lemon Turmeric Grilled Salmon is best served fresh, as salmon does not reheat well. However, room temperature leftover salmon is delicious on salads or with leftover grilled veggies! I ate mine cold with leftover roasted sweet potatoes for lunch and it was amazing.
Any leftovers you may have will store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
You can also make extra Lemon Turmeric Marinade and use it as a salad dressing! Save leftover salmon, serve it cold on a salad and top it with the extra marinade. Yum! Just be sure to use fresh marinade, and not any that you’ve used to marinate raw salmon. (You don’t want food poisoning!)
What to serve with this Lemon Turmeric Grilled Salmon
There are many simple sides you can make to serve with this grilled salmon. First, try a simple side salad. This Quick & Easy Creamy Cucumber Salad would work well as a side. Or pick your favorite vegetable and grill it alongside your salmon. If it’s cool enough to turn on the oven, you could also roast your favorite veggie. Alternatively, you can also pair it with rice or quinoa, if you tolerate them. Just make a little extra marinade for a tasty drizzle on top.
