It’s summer. It’s hot. The late afternoon sun is bearing down. Sweat is collecting on your brow. Your cheeks are flushed. But fear not – a refreshing bubbly beverage is on the way! And it won’t take more than five minutes to make!
There really is nothing better than sipping a zesty beverage on a hot summer day, am I right? This simple Lemon Ginger Spritzer recipe is the perfect mocktail for a summer evening on your back patio, a picnic in the park, a summer BBQ, or afternoon drinks with a friend. Something about the invigorating fresh ginger root and zesty lemon really hits the spot and quenches that summer thirst like no other beverage can.
I’m a big fan of lemon ginger spritzers, but most recipes call for some sort of simple syrup, whether store bought or homemade. Since I don’t drink mocktails very often, I didn’t want extra simple syrup lying around. I’m also always looking for ways to reduce my sugar intake, and mocktail recipes often have a lot of added sugar. So I wanted to try to develop a delicious, refreshing lemon ginger spritzer recipe without using any simple syrup. I think I’ve succeeded! You’ll have to let me know what you think in the comments.
It is so simple and easy that I feel silly calling it a recipe, but it really is the best way to cool off on a hot day. Just add some fresh ginger root, a slice of lemon and a dash of honey to a glass. Then muddle it with a spoon or muddler. Top with ice and sparkling water, and your refreshing summer mocktail is served!

Ingredients
2 thin slices fresh ginger root
1/8 tsp honey (adjust to taste preference)
1/8 of a lemon, seeds removed (peel on)
ice
6 oz sparkling water
Instructions
Add ginger, honey and lemon slice to the bottom of an 8 oz glass. Muddle with a muddler (or spoon) to release the juices from the lemon and ginger.
Fill the glass with ice, add sparkling water, and top with a slice of lemon, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
