Have you jumped on the collagen bandwagon, yet? If not, hop on in! This easy 5-Ingredient Chocolate Strawberry Collagen Smoothie is a great way to start. It’s super simple, requiring just five ingredients, and makes the best health-promoting breakfast or snack in less than five minutes.

When I’m in a hurry, a smoothie is my go-to on-the-go healthy breakfast or snack. If I have 5 minutes to spare, I can blend it up real quick and then drink on the run. And this Chocolate Strawberry Collagen Smoothie really hits the spot. It’s not overly sweet, so I don’t feel like I’m consuming a day’s worth of sugar in one sitting, but it’s sweet enough to satisfy my cravings. It really hits the “sweet spot.”

One of the best things about this smoothie is that it has TWO secret healthy ingredients that you’d never know were there unless you made it yourself – collagen and spinach! But you don’t taste either one (promise!). You get to sneak in your daily dose of collagen AND a serving of vegetables! But what you taste is a strawberry chocolate smoothie.

What are the benefits of adding collagen to my smoothie?

Collagen is the most abundant protein that naturally exists in your body. It is a major component of your connective tissues, skin, bones, muscles and hair. Our modern diets are lacking in this important protein, which is abundant in animal skin, bones and cartilage. But we just don’t consume collagen-rich foods, like bone broth, like our ancestors used to (if you do, props to you!). Likewise, our processed-food-laden diets lack the nutrients found in whole foods that act as precursors to collagen production in our own bodies.

Additionally, as we age, collagen production in our bodies begins to diminish, which becomes apparent in our achy joints, wrinkly skin and dry, brittle hair. That’s where grass-fed collagen peptides come in! It’s super easy to incorporate into your diet and is tasteless, so you can add it to tons of foods (like this smoothie!). It’s also hydrolyzed, to make it more bioavailable (so your body can absorb and utilize the proteins better), and has many health benefits, including:

  • Promoting healthy skin, hair and nails.
  • Supporting a healthy gut.
  • Easing joint pain.
  • Improving bone health.
  • Supporting brain health.

I don’t know about you, but a simple 5-minute 5-ingredient smoothie that can do all that is top-notch in my book!

How to make this 5-Ingredient Chocolate Strawberry Collagen Smoothie

Grab your favorite high speed blender (I couldn’t live without my Vitamix), toss in some spinach, strawberries (fresh or frozen), unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or other non-dairy milk of choice), grass-fed collagen peptides and raw cacao powder. Plus, your sweetener of choice, depending on how sweet your strawberries are. Then, blend away!

That’s it! A healthy treat in less than five minutes!
